Stephen Allen Mitchell, 54, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his home. He was born December 28, 1964 in Wake County to the late Eugene Allen Mitchell and Margaret Johnson Mitchell. Steve graduated from Zebulon High School as well as NC State University. He was a Cash Management Manager with the NC Department of Public Safety, Department of Correction. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church, 4525 Hopkins Chapel Road, Zebulon, NC 27597. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home of Connie and Jerry Brayboy, 8605 Ferrell Road, Zebulon, NC 27597. Steve is survived by his sisters: Sandra Perry Hicks and husband Samuel Thomas of Fort Worth, TX, Connie Perry Brayboy and husband Jerry of Zebulon; nieces and nephews: Caroline Brayboy Gutshall (Evan), Dean Alexander Brayboy, Lisa Hicks Thompson (Matthew), Jennifer Hicks, Ava Caroline Gutshall, Thomas Jeffrey Thompson, and Hayden Thompson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund.
