Mrs. Shirley Mae Freeman, 86, of Lake City, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, January 8, 2019 at the Haven-Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center after an extended illness. She was born in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area on June 27, 1932 to the late Alva Beam. She has made Lake City her home since, 1972, moving here with her husband after he retired from the Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina. She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, playing cards, playing games on her tablet and camping with her husband. She is preceded in death by six siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-seven years; James D. Freeman of Lake City; sons; James Melvin Freeman (Debbie) of Cheyanne, WY and Ronald Dwight Freeman (Lisa) of Sumter, SC; daughter; Elizabeth Trafford of St. Petersburg, FL. Nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren along with extended family members and friends also survive. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Freeman will be conducted on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Tyre officiating.
