Sean’s Obituary Sean Patrick Rothery, age 42, of St. Louis, MO, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Sean was born on August 18, 1976 in St. Louis to Patrick and Ann (Blaisdell) Rothery. He attended St. Louis University High School and graduated from Webster Groves High School. Sean was the thread that ran through his family and friends, connecting strangers and making and maintaining lifelong friendships as he traveled and pursued his passions. He lived on the West Coast for 15 years where he spent time enjoying the ocean and the mountains. He was a talented artist whose primary medium was puppetry and writing and performing puppet shows. He had a quick wit and a signature laugh. Sean was a self-taught gourmet cook and loved listening to and performing music. He had a special affinity for David Bowie. Sean was an avid swimmer and had been swimming regularly since he was 8 years old. Sean loved kids and they were naturally drawn to his humor, story-telling and playful nature. Sean overcame many obstacles in his life and always had an appreciation for the simpler things. His personal trials led him to develop a sensitivity to those in need and he was always ready to help a friend or stranger. He is survived by his loving parents and older brother Thomas Rothery, St. Louis. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles: Michael (Rose) Rothery of San Antonio, TX, James (Karen) Rothery, Kathleen Rothery and Maureen Rothery all of St. Louis, Lynne (Bud) Herman of Homer Glen, IL, Kathleen (James) Hewitt and James (Cheryl) Blaisdell, all of Bradford, IL. He is also survived by his loving cousins, his cat Bitsy, his loving community of Southside friends and a network of friends around the world. Sean was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents James and Marion Rothery of St. Louis, MO and maternal grandparents Thomas & Mary Blaisdell of Bradford, IL.
