Ruth Marion Tannehill May 14 1929 December 17 2018

Ruth Marion Tannehill, 89, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018. She was born in San Francisco, California to the late Thomas Hunt and Margaret Jane Roycroft Hunt. Ruth retired as Director of Nursing at Mid Jefferson Hospital and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nederland. Those left to cherish Ruth’s memory are her daughters, Janet Elaine Tawney and her husband, Michael of Nederland and Eleanor “Ellie” Louise Babineaux and her husband, Scot of Nederland; her son, Richard Lafayette Tannehill and his wife, Diane of Humble; her sister, Ellie Herbert of Fresno, California; 6 grandchildren, Andrea Gutauskas and her husband, John; Scott Tannehill and his wife, Julie; Will Tawney; Robert Tannehill and his wife, Jennie; Jenna Hickman and her husband, Jason; and Jake Babineaux and his wife, Nicole; and 11 great-grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, George Patrick Tannehill; her parents, Thomas Hunt and Margaret Jane Nelson; and her sister, Margaret Kathleen Bova. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2018 with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
