Ruth’s Obituary Ruth Leona (Dewald) Baumiller, 88, Rapid City, SD was born April 19, 1930 on the family farm in Delmont, SD to John and Lea Dewald. On January 21, 2019 the Lord took his servant Ruth home to receive her Heavenly reward. Ruth was a loving wife to Elmer Willis Baumiller in the 65 years they were married before his passing. Not only was Ruth a remarkable woman, she was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is survived by her children, Betty (Ken) Kapfenstein of Concord, CA, David (Liz) Baumiller of Newell, SD, Linda (Noel) Hartman of Prescott, AZ, Theresa (Steve) Black of Black Hawk, SD, Janice (Dennis) Green of Lusk, WY, Bob (Kate) Baumiller of Rapid City, Randy Baumiller (Angel Pope) of Rapid City, Penny (Brian) Van Zanten of Sioux Falls, SD; her 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren; her brothers, Raymond (Phyllis) Dewald, Arnie (Ruth) Dewald, Bernie (Rose) Dewald, Rolie (Norma) Dewald, Dennis Dewald; and her sisters, Norma (Dale) Reiner and Alvera (Vern) Thompson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Baumiller; two daughters, Kathy Baumiller and Diane Raschke; two grandchildren, Chrissy Miller and Tommy Kapfenstein. Growing up as the oldest of eight children on the family farm in Delmont. Ruth was strong willed and was not one to shy away from giving her siblings a kick in the Heinie if she didn’t think they were working fast enough. Ruth was a hard worker but knew once the work was done it was time for relaxing and playing with her many siblings. Ruth raised her children with that same strength and strong will. Ruth had a short stint of working outside the home but spent the majority of her life taking care of her ten children as a stay at home mother. Ruth loved going to craft shows and selling her embroidered towels, baby blankets and various other crafts. Ruth relished the time she spent with her puppy Missy (The Fluff/Fluffy). She also enjoyed spending time with friends at the Moose Lodge watching NASCAR on Sundays. Ruth was loved and will be missed by her family and the many friends who came to know her. Visitation will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5:00-7:00pm at Kirk Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10:30am at Atonement Lutheran Church with Rev.
