Roy “Pop”‘s Obituary PONTOTOC – Roy Charles “Pop” Burress was born October 1, 1926 in Alamo, TN to Raymond Newton Burress and Lessie Lou Antwine Burress. He passed away January 7, 2019 at Pontotoc Health and Rehab, Pontotoc, MS at the age of 92 after a long illness. He was a retired salesman. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 42 years, Ruby Lea ton Burress, one son, Roy Charles Burress, Jr., one grandson, Timothy R. Burress II, three brothers, Gene, Robin and Marshall Wayne, and three sisters, Ruth, Francine and Varon. He is survived by two sons, Tim (Janet) Burress of New Albany, MS and Chris (Lea) Burress of Pontotoc, MS, one granddaughter, Nicole (Allen) Steele of Thaxton, MS. Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 11AM at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, MS. Dr. David Hamilton will be officiating. Burial will follow in Baldwin Memorial Gardens. Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements. The deacons of West Heights Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2019, 5-8PM and Thursday, January 10, 2019 10AM until service time. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Palmer Home for Children in Columbus, MS. Read More
