“Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” – Luke 23:43 Roger David Harke passed away unexpectedly January 11, 2019 surrounded by his family. Roger was born March 3rd, 1937 in Kimberly, WI to Fred and Margaret (Wiedenhaupt) Harke. He was the eldest of four children. He met Rose Harke (Resch) in 1956 and after a short courtship they were married at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Kimberly in 1958. They enjoyed a wonderful 52 years of marriage. Roger was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved playing polka music with his band: Hark & The Hot Nuts. He spent his weekends fishing on Shawano Lake and was known for his famous Friday fish frys. He also enjoyed drinking beer, all kinds of beer. Roger and Rose enjoyed numerous trips to Europe and many vacations across the United States. They also loved to spend time at their cottage on Shawano Lake. Roger is survived by his four sons: Ron, Appleton, Mark (Randall) San Diego, CA, Paul (Jill) Wausau, and Lee (Jennifer) Harke, Appleton. Roger was especially proud of his four grandchildren: Claudia (Ron/Nancy), Erik (Ron/Nancy), Kenna, (Lee/Jennifer) and India (Paul/Jill) Harke. He is survived by his brothers: John Harke and David (Marilyn) Harke; and sister Judy (David) Williamson; and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his wife’s brothers: Don, Tom, and Gary, and sisters Ann, Sandra, and Jeanne. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret Harke, and wife, Rose. Special thank you to Pastor Johnston for his visits and spiritual guidance, to the swift response of the Combined Locks Police Department and First Responders and to the staff at AMC for their attentive care and personal support. The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM noon on Wednesday January 16, 2019 at MOUNT CALVARY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, N8728 S. Coop Rd, Menasha, South on Hwy N, right on Woodland Dr. before Hwy 10 roundabout, left on S Coop Rd., with Pastor Johnston officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Roger to Mt. Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church. As Roger would say, “Everybody raise your glass – Zicke Zacke Zicke Zacke Hoi! Hoi! Hoi!
