Robert Lawrence Rob Carriker May 20 1932 – January 10 2019

Obituary for Robert Lawrence “Rob” Carriker Concord- Robert L. Carriker, 86 of Concord passed away on January 10, 2019. Rob’s wishes were to have no funeral services following his death. Rob was born on May 20, 1932 in Concord to John Arthur and Pearl Ada Goins Carriker. He grew up in Concord and in 1951 he graduated from Concord High School. He Served in the US Army where he became a Military Police. Then, in pursuit of his desire to be a teacher he continued his education at Anderson College in Anderson Indiana. He enjoyed a long teaching career in Florida where he taught forth and sixth grade before retiring and moving back home to North Carolina. Once back home, Rob took a position as activities director at a nursing home where he enjoyed brightening the days of the elderly residents. Even after he left his paid position there he continued volunteering and making a difference in their lives. Rob loved to read and watch television. He was an active longtime member of Branchview First Church of God before it dissolved. He never married or had children. He leaves behind thirteen nieces and nephews.
