Obituary for Robert J Straub Robert J. Straub, age 84, of Evansville, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at Deaconess Hospital Midtown Campus. Bob was born October 15, 1934 in Gibson County, IN to the late Louis H. and Sylvia (Bauer) Straub. Bob worked for Whirlpool Corp. for 23 years. In 1958, Bob, along with his wife Darlene, founded Straub Photography. Bob continued to work in the photography studio for over 60 years. Bob earned his photography degree from the New York Institute of Photography. He was a member of the Professional Photographers of Indiana Hall of Fame, was a past president of the Professional Photographers of Indiana as well as an invited member of the Daguerre Society. Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County; the Knights of St. John at St. Wendel and a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea. Surviving Bob are his wife of 61 years, Darlene (Elpers) Straub; a daughter, Sheila Straub of Avalon, NJ; two sons, Darrel (Candy) Straub of Evansville and Brian Straub, of Lawrenceville, IL; one brother, Jim (Mary) Straub of Evansville; son-in-law, Bro. Mike A. Austin, OFM Conv.; three grandchildren, Erika, Alexa and Raice Straub; three step grandchildren, Taylor Townsell, Brian and Luke Kiesel and a great granddaughter, Willow Straub. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Colette Straub Austin in 1985; by a sister, Betty Richter and two brothers, Sylvester and Francis Straub. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Eugene Schroeder and Rev. Jason Gries officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 6202 W.
