He attended Spencer Public High School. Robert enlisted in the National Guard on November 15th, 1969 and was discharged on November 16th, 1976. A few years after that he started work at National Farms which was later renamed to Christensen Farms where he stayed for over 20 years. He enjoyed working on cars, watching westerns, having coffee with friends and spending time with his grandkids. Robert helped anyone who needed it and never asked for anything in return. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him. Robert is remembered by his 3 brothers David, John and Bruce, 8 sisters Linda, Karol, Trudy, Susan, Jeanne, Karen, Darlene and Janet along with their spouses. Mother Lucille Bowman of Spencer, NE; Wife Shirley (Walton) Bowman of O’Neill, NE. Step daughter Angela Sayers and husband Joe and their children Evan and Grace of Inman, and daughter April Johnston and fiancé Michael Burival and children Talan, Lorelai, and Greyson of O’Neill, NE. He was preceded in death by his father Carl Bowman, older brother Gary Bowman and younger brother Allen Bowman, brother-in-law Dennis, niece Kari, grandchild Colton Sayers, father and mother-in-law Richard and Elsie Walton and many other relatives.
