Robert (Bob) Thomas Ohler, age 81 of Farwell, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his home. Bob was born the son of Thomas and Nellie (Giammaria) Ohler on January 20, 1937 in Greensburg, PA. Bob served his Country in the U. S. Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1963 after serving two years of active service and five years in the reserves. He was united in marriage to Olivia Glenn on May 28, 1960. Bob and Olivia met at Southeastern High School in Detroit. Bob enjoyed hunting in Clare and moved his family from St Clair Shores to Clare in 1972.He then started a refuse hauling company. Through a lot of hard work, the company grew into a thriving business by obtaining contracts with many surrounding cities and townships, as well as individuals. Bob was very active in the Clare Lions Club in the 1980’s. He also volunteered at the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen for several years. He loved helping people, with or without their knowledge and did many random acts of kindness. He enjoyed woodworking, making many pieces of furniture for family and friends. Bob was an avid football fan. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, which he did until after he turned 80. He loved his family above all else. Bob is survived by his wife Olivia; 3 sons; Gene (Alice) of Florida; Glenn (Kass) of California; and Rob (Martha) of Clare; his sister, Virginia of Traverse City. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; James, Samantha, Nick, Rachel and Ian; 3 great grand children; Payton, Logan and Tegan and by many loving nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. In keeping with Bob’s wishes cremation has taken place with a memorial service being planned for Saturday, May 25, 2019, time and place yet to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice. Arrangements were handled by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
