Winterville – Richard Roy Lambert, 62, entered into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Richard was native of Benson and attended Mount Olive College where he sang with the “New Creations.” He was a 1991 graduate of the Nursing Program at Pitt Community College. He served in the healthcare field since he was 16, which was his passion. He worked as a paramedic with the Winterville EMS, taught CPR, chief flight nurse with East Care and spent over 20 years as a nurse with ECU Cardiology. He was a well-respected nurse and will be remembered for his integrity and professionalism. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and but most importantly, he loved and cared for his family, especially his grandsons. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Smith Lambert; mother, Emogene Clifton Lambert; and father, Rexford Roy. He is survived by his daughter, Emily Dawn Lambert of Winterville; son, Richard Adam Lambert and wife Nicole Ciro Lambert; grandsons, Henry and Zachary Lambert, all of Wilmington; father, W.R. Lambert; brother, Royce Lambert and wife Tina; sisters, Carolyn Lambert, all of Benson and Sue Price and husband Don of NY; brother-in-law, Jan Smith and wife Carolyn of Ayden; multiple nieces and nephews; and his girlfriend, Janie Mason of Washington. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 7pm at Greenville Church of God, 3105 S. Memorial Drive, Greenville, NC 27834. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
