Richard Johnson April 29 1941 – January 25 2019

Obituary for Richard Johnson Print Richard W. Johnson, age 77 of Stanton, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice. He was born the son of Louis & Orvilla (Enness) Johnson and they precede him in death. Richard is also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Harry & Pearl Johnson as well as a sister and brother-in-law, Imogene & Robert McConnell. Richard loved all things outdoors. He enjoyed taking walks through the woods with his black labs, watching the deer, turkeys, rabbits, pheasants and all the other wildlife which inhabited his property on East Stanton Road. A generous man, Richard enjoyed sharing his knowledge and skills of hunting and fishing with children of family and friends. Richard owned a saw mill and also worked as a machinist at Hitachi. After his retirement, he helped transport cars to and from Bookwalter Motor Sales for service. Richard was an active and charter member of the Stanton First Congregational Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge of Stanton and Stanton Lions Club. Richard proudly served his country in the National Guard. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Surviving Richard is his wife of 53 years, Joyce Johnson of Stanton; his daughter and son-in-law, Christine Johnson & Kristopher Giles of Stillwater, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Pat Buchholz of Stanton, Sharon Nielsen of Cedar Springs and Lois Garvey of Greenville as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Richard will be on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 3 to 7 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Stanton (225 W. Cedar Street). Funeral services for Richard will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 beginning at 11 AM at the Stanton First Congregational Church (305 N. Camburn Street), with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Final interment will be next to his parents at Forest Hill Cemetery in Stanton. For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Richard’s memory the family suggests they be directed to either: Stanton First Congregational Church or the White Pine Library or the charity of your choice.
