OBITUARY Richard “Dick” C. Nauman April 10, 1928 – January 10, 2019 Richard (Dick) Nauman of Lancaster passed away peacefully at his home on January 10, 2019. The son of the late Kenny and Mildred (Mose) Nauman, he spent most of his youth in the Akron, Ohio area. A veteran of WWII he served on the aircraft carrier The USA Franklin D. Roosevelt. Upon his return from the navy he joined his father in ownership of Kenny’s Restaurants. They were also part owners of the Poly Clean Laundry and Dry Cleaning service. Dick was an avid sports fan and personally loved participating in the games of golf and bowling. He was an outstanding bowler and honored to have been inducted into the Southeastern Ohio Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a proud member of the Elks Lodge #570, the American Legion Post II, Sertoma International, AMVETS Post 1985, Lancaster CC and the Board of Directors of the Central Ohio Restaurant Association. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving and beautiful wife of 64 years Wilda (Wears) Nauman. He is survived his daughters Joey Riegel and Jan Sheppard, four grandchildren, Cara (Greg) Mounts, Joey (Michelle) Campbell, Nick (Danielle) Sheppard, and Ashley (Mike) Murphy, nine great grandchildren, Cameron Randall, Gavin and Addy Mounts, Chase and Evan Campbell, Parker and Paisley Sheppard, Ben and Will Murphy. He is also survived by special cousin, Karen (Nauman) Parsons and Son-In-Law, Mark Riegel. The family would like to thank his neighbors, Dick and Donna Sutterfield, for their kindness and caring. They also thank his caregivers Lisa Artrip and Deb Patterson and the nursing staff of FairHope Hospice. Dick wished to thank all his employees and customers who helped make his life worthwhile. Calling hours will be held at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 11:30am-1pm followed by a funeral service. A Military Burial will be held immediately after the service at Maple Grove Cemetery by The Lancaster Burial Detail of which Dick was a member for over 30 years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to FairHope Hospice (fairhopehospice.org) or Wounded Warrior (woundedwarriorproject.org).
