Carrico, Monica Machado It is with great sadness that the family of Monica Machado Carrico announces her passing on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at the age of 41, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Monica will forever be remembered by her husband, Nelson Eduardo Carrico, and her two wonderful children, Victoria and Matthew, by her parents Jose Machado and Maria da Luz Ameida Gomes Machado, and by her sister, Jessica Machado (and nieces Gabriella and Anabella). Born… Read More » on March 4, 1977, at St. James Hospital in Newark, Monica dedicated her life to those around her. She attended Union High School and worked at a number of private and public schools. Her dedication to her students was second to none. An engaging personality and warm disposition made her the best wife, mom, sister, friend and neighbor that anyone could wish for. Her tight hugs, wide smile and contagious laugh seemed to always make things better, even in the darkest of times. Monica always would say, “As long as everyone is together, that’s all that matters.” With that in mind, a celebration of Monica’s life will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at the Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Avenue, Cranford, New Jersey, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. All are welcome to attend to help her family celebrate her life and the immensely positive impact that she had on others.
