Modesto Martinez Albelo, 95, passed away January 11, 2019. He was born February 12, 1923 in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico, where he grew up. He moved to Florida in 2007. Modesto proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II and Korea. After his Army career ended, he continued his service as a civilian until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed spending time with his family, doing crosswords, playing the guitar, singing tangos, listening to music and traveling. Modesto is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Gloria Acosta, his daughters, son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 19, 2019, in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, located at 3600 3rd Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. Interment will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, January 21st at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, Lane 1, located at 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
