Obituary of Mary Bowkley Mother, grandmother, great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Bowkley, 94, of Colonia. Mary was born on May 1, 1924 to Gennaro and Anna Sodano and raised in Newark, NJ. She was a resident of Colonia, NJ, for the last 58 years, she passed away on January 19, 2019 after a short illness. Primarily a homemaker, she also taught 3rd grade at St. Charles , Newark , NJ and was for many years a credit manager for W.T. Grant, Co., Colonia , NJ until the company closed. Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by her son, C. Wm. “Bill” Bowkley, Jr., Esq. (wife, Nancy), as well as her grandchildren, Cynthia D. Bowkley, Esq. and Charles Wm. Bowkley III, M.D., (wife, Brooke) and her great grandchildren, Callah, Piper and Charles Wm. “Will” Bowkley IV. She is also survived by her sister Venice Barrett, her brother James Sodano (wife Cathy) and nieces, Janice Brittain, Madelyn McHale, Joyce Capuano, Donna Ruchalski, Linda Fennessy, Patti Sodano, nephew, James Sodano and several great nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by Charles Wm. “Willy” Bowkley, Sr., her beloved husband of 58 years and her sister , Frances Bavaro. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Rte. 10, Randolph (www.Tuttlefh.com) from 3-7pm on Friday, Jan. 25. Funeral Mass at St. John Vianney, 420 Inman Ave., Colonia, NJ at 10:15am on Saturday, Jan. 26. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to either the Deborah Hospital Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project.
