Mary’s Obituary Athens – Mary Ellen Baker, 85 of Athens, passed away peacefully early January 11, 2019 at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. In Mary’s last moments she was surrounded by her loving family. As PSALM 23 was being read Mary passed peacefully. She was born February 13, 1933 in Athens, OH. She was the daughter of Christopher and Ethel Perry Brooks. She grew up in Athens and attended The Plains High School. She retired as a cook from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. Mary is survived by her son Danny Baker of Athens; her daughter Mary Ann (Ralph) Davis of Nelsonville; her brother Alfred Barney Brooks of Athens, her sisters Martha (Bill) Coakley of Logan, Ella Holley of Athens, Lou Ella Savage of Athens; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren and special friend & neighbor Cheryl Gabriel Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Robert (Bob) Brooks; her sister Addie Gould; her son Barney Baker Sr.; her nephews David Gould, Alfred Lee Brooks and her companion Fred Sager. Services will be Tuesday at 1:00pm at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor Stan West officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at New Marshfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, January 14th at 6:00pm-8:00pm and Tuesday, 11:00am to 1:00pm.
