Mary E Sowl October 11, 1950 – January 3, 2019 Mary E. Sowl, age 68, left to be with our heavenly father, on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in Rockford, IL. From her birth in Henson, Missouri, on October 11, 1950 to her death on Thursday she nourished people around her with love, care, and compassion. She was born in the small town of Henson to Everett Cooper and Ora B. Steward and was the youngest of five children. Survived by her life partner Robert E. Ray (Bob), Eula and Gerald Blackshear, Jobe (J) Donna Cooper, Calvin Cooper and Iris, and her only son Jeff Sowl and Lisa, step-children Tina and Jose Jimenez, Robert and Melissa Schaal, Kristie and Johnny Hoffa, many many many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. preceded in death by Mother and father Ora B. Steward and Everett Cooper, brother Harold (Joe) Cooper, Mary will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the community who was just as loving as she was caring. Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 11th, 2019 at 1:00 pm at J.P Welte Funeral Home, 304 North 5th Street Rockford, IL 61107, with the James E. Welte officiating. The family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the J.P Welte Funeral Home as well as the Doctors and Nurses at Swedish American Hospital especially the nurses Tiffany and Christian for everything they did.
