Mabel Fowler 2019

Obituary for Mabel Fowler Print Mabel Fowler passed away in her sleep on January 30, 2019. She was born Mabel Theriault on June 3, 1919 in Jackson, NJ and last resided at Monmouth Care Center in Long Branch. Mabel especially loved her life with her first husband of 49 years, Joseph April. In their early years they enjoyed life on a 60 acre farm in Jackson Mills, NJ. They had two children, Eva Friscia (who died in July of 2016) and Richard April as well as her stepdaughter, Anna Russo (died Oct. 2017). Frequently Mabel spoke of her joy raising her children with Joe on that farm. They moved to Rumson where Mabel and Joe lived from 1949 until his passing in 1977. Mabel’s second husband, Ward Fowler predeceased her in 2004. Mabel was employed as a housekeeper for much of her life. She worked for nearly 30 years for the Davidson family in Rumson who considered her a member of their family. They are all deeply grateful for her gifts as caregiver, baker, organizer, friend, and ‘auntie’ extraordinaire. Mabel is lovingly remembered as a hard worker and as kind, warm and of generous heart. She also possessed a great sense of humor and strength of character. Her faith in God was central to her life. Spending time outdoors with animals or in a garden brought her much joy along with sewing, reading and cooking. Mabel is survived by her son, Richard April and his wife Joann of Rumson; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and her niece, Linda Williams. A memorial gathering will be held in NJ for her friends and family in July, 2019.
