Lewis’ Obituary Lewis Leon Brewer, 78, passed away on January 15, 2019. Lewis L. Brewer passed away from cancer on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Regional Hospital. He was born on the farm near Colome, S.D. to John T. and Edna (Karel) Brewer on May 10, 1940. After a few years on the farm the family moved to Belvedere, S.D. He graduated from Belvedere High School on May 13, 1958. After a short stint at Black Hills State, he went to work for the railroad. He moved back to Belvedere to go into business hauling gravel with his dad and brother. He then moved to Ft. Pierre, S.D., where he met and married his wife, JoAnn (Grabow), on April 28, 1968. In 1970 they moved to Rapid City, S.D., where he became a private mail contractor. Lewis also had a small ranch and raised horses and cattle; he got the farming bug from his years on his parent’s farm. He loved fishing, working on the ranch, spending his days outside; and when he had the chance, loved to gamble. He was a kind and generous man who was always ready to help out his family and friends. He was an “avid” collector of Farmall tractors. He is survived by his wife JoAnn; sisters, Jane (Floyd) Iwan, Judy Kinsella, and Karen (Willis) Venekamp, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Edna, and brothers, Leo, and John and his wife Jessie. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Kirk Funeral Home.
