OBITUARY Larry McClellan Houtz April 28, 1936 – January 13, 2019 Larry McClellan Houtz age 82, passed away at his home in Lutz, FL Sunday, January 13th, 2019. He was born on April 28, 1936 in Carrol Pennsylvania to Kenneth Dale and Lydia (Lupold) Houtz. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Judith Marie (Meyers) Houtz. He is survived by two sons Michael (Patricia), Keith (Isabel) and a daughter Belinda, six grandchildren Rachael (Danny), Michael Jr (Christina), Alexander, Lindsey, Eric and Nicholas, two great grandchildren Colten and Adam; a brother Edward (Diane), brother in law James (Pam) Meyers and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, Dale, a brother Forrest (Judy) and sister Mary Jane (Robert). As a young man Larry served in both the Navy and the Air Force. He retired from Bell South after 30 years of service. He was a outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting but his passion was mentoring young men and as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 323, he mentored as many as 15 young men to earn the rank of Eagle including three grandsons and was recently working with his youngest grandson on his Eagle Service Project. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 19th, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Harvestor Methodist Church, 2432 Collier Parkway, Land O Lakes, FL 34639. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the American Heart Association.
