Kathy Ann Reid, age 58, of Albia, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice with her loving husband by her side. Kathy was born on August 25, 1960, in Virginia, to George and Sylvia Reynolds. She grew up in LaVal, Maryland where she graduated from high school. She then served her country in the United States Air Force and later obtained her Associates Degree. She was united in marriage to Mark Reid and to this union, 2 children were born, Jenifer and Mark Jr. Kathy and Mark later divorced. In May of 2005, Kathy met the love of her life, Philip. Kathy was a Certified Medical Coder working in Utah and Maryland. She loved to watch movies and put together jigsaw puzzles. She liked reading, eating out, and dancing. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening flowers. Her true joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Kathy is survived by her husband, Carl “Philip” Shuster; her mother and stepfather, Silvia (Thomas) Garland; 2 children, Jenifer (Cody) Christian and Mark (Megan) Reid Jr.; 3 grandchildren, Landon, Chloe, and Kayden; 3 step-grandchildren, Sierra, Ashlynn, and Skylar; a brother; a sister; and a niece. She is preceded in death by her father, George Reynolds and 1 brother. Per Kathy’s wishes, her body has been cremated and no formal services are planned in Albia. A memorial service will be held in Ogden, Utah at a later date. An open memorial has been established to the family.
