John Kelly Jr 2019

OBITUARY John Kelly Jr. June 2, 1941 – January 4, 2019 John “Jack” Kelly, 77, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 due to complications from Alzheimer’s. Jack was born in Great Neck, NY to John “Jack” and Ellen Kelly. He was married to Beatrice “Bea” Kelly for 55 years. Jack was very involved with his church, sports and his family. After moving from Levittown, New York, where he was involved with his church while working at the Post Office and the A&P, he continued his faithful service in Orlando. At Good Shepherd Catholic Church, he was an involved member of the Chef’s Club and the church social committee where he called “Bingo” and served donuts and coffee after Sunday masses. He served in many capacities as a volunteer at Good Shepherd Catholic School and the annual church Fall and Mardi Gras Festivals and was extremely devoted to his cherished position as a Special Minister of the Eucharist. Jack was active in Azalea Park Little League where he coached his four daughters and became a well-respected umpire. Jack played on several softball teams with his church, the Post Office and in the community. He loved anything baseball and football related, Go Browns!, and shared that love and passion with his daughters and grandchildren. Jack lived every day by his staunch beliefs and Catholic faith. His strength, determination, devotion and kindness to others followed closely with his love, support and protection of his family and friends. He instilled those traits in his daughters and grandchildren. Jack is survived by his daughters Margaret “Peggy” Bégin, Barbara Kelly-Hursey (David), Colleen Driscoll (Tim) and Nancy Stokes (Robert); his grandchildren Shannon Jacobs (Andy), Sean Bégin, Briahna Hursey, Michelle Hartman, Sydney Barnett (Corey), Danny and Riley White, and Mason and Hunter Stokes; his great grandchildren Jackson Jacobs, Krista, Danny and Tanner Hartman; his siblings, Mary Moorehead (Jimmy), Michael Kelly (Rae), Tom Kelly (Audrey), and Ellen Hursey (David), along with many nieces, nephews and brothers/sisters in-law. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Beatrice “Bea” (Doloughty) Kelly, his parents, John and Ellen (Slavin) Kelly, and his sister, Elizabeth Kelly. He was a devoted and loving husband, a wonderful father who taught his daughters to be strong, independent, kind and generous women, and most definitely, the most proud, honored, devoted Grandpa who was happy to spoil his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at every possible chance.
