Joan Jacobson Holdrege Resident Joan Jacobson, 89, of Holdrege passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at Christian Homes Care Community Chapel in Holdrege. Chaplain DeWane Dow will officiate. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Christian Homes Care Community Chapel. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Joan Jacobson was born on July 7, 1929 in Gothenburg to Alfred and Ruth (McCuistion) Steffensen. She received her education from Kearney High School and Kearney State Teacher’s College. Joan was united in marriage to Wayne Jacobson on January 3, 1951 at the church parsonage and to this union two children were born: Ron and Susan. The couple farmed on the family farm that was started in 1894 south of Elm Creek. The family lived in the house that was built on the farm by Wayne and Grandpa Johnny. After Wayne’s passing, Joan moved to Holdrege and then to Chrisoma West. Joan enjoyed wintering in Phoenix, Arizona; being active in 4-H, flower gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to sing and play the piano and organ. She was a member of Ladies Aid Society, Williamsburg United Methodist Church and was a part of the Phelps County Senior Center Choir. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ron Jacobson of Loomis; her daughter, Susan Sanders of Holdrege; grandchildren, Mike (Renae) Jacobson, Amy (Eric) Minicilli, Kevin Sanders and Robyn Sanders; great-grandchildren, Chase and Tyler Jacobson and Terra Sanders; along with many other relatives and friends. Joan was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Judy Jacobson; her parents; sister, Mary Jane Holden; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Johnny and Edith Jacobson and long-time friends, Marilyn and Lyle Imel.
