Jim’s Obituary James Robert “Jim” Davolt, 81, of Oswego, passed away at 9:07 a.m., Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his home. He was born April 29, 1937 in Oswego, Kansas to Harry and Alice (Allison) Davolt. James graduated from Oswego High School in 1955. On September 6, 1957, he married Patsy Cox in Parsons. In 1959, James moved his family to Wichita where he worked at Boeing Aircraft Company and later for Universal Motor Oils until retiring in 2000. While with Universal Motor Oils, he wrote poems for each individual receiving an award at the company award banquets. He also wrote poems for Christmas dinners, retirees, and 50th wedding anniversaries. He even wrote a poem for a Sherman City Memorial Day service. Shortly after his retirement, he moved back to Oswego. James’ unique testimony is that he gave his heart to Christ while pressing jean pockets for the Berry Garment Factory in Oswego while in high school. He was an active member of the Bible Holiness Church, both locally and for the general church. Through the years, he was a member of various general church boards which included Home Missions Department, Publication Board, School Board, and General Treasurer. Locally, he was a member of the church board, Sunday School teacher, Song Leader, sang solos, and even preached when asked to fill-in. James took his civil responsibility seriously. He never missed an election once becoming eligible to vote. He also worked for years for the Sedgwick County Election Commission, working at the neighborhood voting place on Election Day. He was also an avid blood donor, donating over 17 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross with his name being on the Wichita Chapter Wall of Fame. James enjoyed traveling and was able to visit all of the lower 48 states. Survivors include: His Wife – Patsy Davolt of the home One Daughter – Theresa Kasparek and her husband, Gerald, of Lenexa, KS One Son – Philip Davolt and his wife, Jean, of Park City, KS Grandchildren – Jonathon Kasparek and his wife, Mandy, James Kasparek, Julia Kasparek, Jeremy Davolt, Cole Kasparek, and Stephanie Davolt Four Great-Grandchildren One Brother – Max Davolt and his wife, Rona, of Rogers, AR Several Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Lorene Blair. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Independence Bible School or the American Red Cross.
