Jerry Joe Gerber, 73, of Charlevoix, died Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the Georgia House. He was born May 14, 1945, to Aaron and Emma (Weaver) Gerber in Fairview, MI. During his lifetime he was employed in many occupations, a few of which included carpenter, shoe repairman, maintenance at Ausable Valley Nursing Home, meatman at Troyers Meat Market, woodworker at Brumm’s Showroom, and greeter at Walmart.He took an active part in Grace Fellowship Mennonite Church where he was a member for many years. He is survived by his wife Laureen (Schrock); two daughters, Serena Gerber and Sovina Gerber, Charlevoix; one son, Samuel Gerber, Charlevoix; four sisters, Betty (Norm) Zimmerman, Mechanicsburg, PA, Sarah (Melvin) Bitikofer, Salem, OR, Nancy (Nelson) Troyer, South Boardman, MI, and Ruth (Doug) Miller, Fairview, MI; and one brother Harry (Carolyn) Gerber, Fairview, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will take place Friday, January 4, from 6-8 p.m. at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral Services will take place Saturday, January 5 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 11906 Old US Highway 31 N, Charlevoix. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Arrangements have been handled by the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
