Rupe, age 75, took his last breath in the early morning hours on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla. Jerald was a hard worker, loved his country and was a friend to everyone he met. Jerald was born on March 15, 1943 in Shade, Ohio to the late Beatrice Lenore Windsor Rupe and Bert Welder Rupe. Jerald served his country in Vietnam from April 22, 1965 to April 12, 1968. He worked many jobs in his lifetime and enjoyed time on the farm with his animals. He leaves behind his children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Martha Rupe McDaniel, his brother Theodore Rupe and step son Lloyd D. Dillon. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio. Burial will be in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion and VFW Post 9893 Honor Guards.
