He went to school at Central Junior and Alton High School in Alton, Illinois. Jeffery worked many years as a roofer in Tennessee. At the age of 54 years old, he accepted the Lord Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by parents Cleveland Whitfield and Cessie Mae Whitfield; brother, William L.
