James Preston’s Obituary James Preston Morgan, 86, of Hertford, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019, in his home. Mr. Morgan was born in Perquimans County on January 15, 1933, and was the son of the late James Clifton and Hazel Umphlett Morgan. A retired farmer, he had owned and operated the former Morgan’s Rest Home. A lifelong member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, he was dearly loved by his family, extended family, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a brother, Seth Mac Morgan, and a nephew, Darryl Morgan. Surviving are his wife, Lina Ruth Proctor Morgan; a daughter, Ginger Bundy and husband, Clarence; a son, Glen Morgan and wife, Susan; a grandson, Josh Morgan and wife, Katie; two great-grandsons, Jack and Sawyer; a brother, Lloyd Ray Morgan and wife, Gloria, and their daughters, Deana and Lisa. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, and will be conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Howard Sutton. Friends may join the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service. A private burial will be in Cedarwood Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed, or memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 389 Swamp Road, Hertford, NC 27944.
