OBITUARY James Lewis Oatney November 14, 1934 – January 2, 2019 Oatney, James Lewis, age 84, passed away on Wednesday January 2, 2019. He was born November 14, 1934 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late John and Elva Oatney. He is survived by his loving family, Mary Lou, Beth (Greg) Andrews, Amy (Tony) Benge, Brad (Ellen) Oatney, wonderful grandchildren, great grandchildren and step children. Jim graduated from St. Mary’s High school and subsequently served his country in the United States Army and was a member of American Legion Post 165. His passion in life was to always help others. This was evident in his successful career at Dayton Power and Light for 30+ years, as he made sure the trucks and heavy equipment were always in good working order to serve the community. After retirement, Jim used his mechanical skills to work as a handy man in the neighborhood. He was always up for a challenge to fix a problem, but mostly he enjoyed the fellowship associated with it. Jim loved the Lord, his family, and life. He enjoyed playing golf, cards, reading and studying the Bible, and his morning meetings with friends over coffee. His family will be forever grateful for his life long lessons of loving, giving and kindness. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 705 S. Elm Street, West Carrollton, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 PM.
