OBITUARY Helen Schanz Owens March 10, 1944 – December 31, 2018 Margaret Helen Schanz Owens, 74, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018. Helen grew up in Vinton, graduating from Vinton High School where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Louisianan High School Rodeo Association. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren. Helen was a Ward Clerk and retired from West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. She was of Methodist faith and was a member of the Revelators Motorcycle Ministry. Left to cherish her memory are three children, Bret Thibodeaux, Sr. (Linda), Anna Gay McDonald(Travis), and Bart Thibodeaux; sister, Edith Seefield(Craig); brother, Jack Schanz (Dale); 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mildred Schanz; and husband, David Owens. Services will be held 10 am, Friday, January 4th in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Vince Guidry will officiate. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-9pm Thursday with a Remembrance Service at 7pm and will resume at 8am Friday.
