Obituary of Harold Koester Harold J. Koester Harold J. Koester, of Millcreek Twp., was reunited with his wife Mary Jane, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 87. He was born in Hamburg, NY, son of the late Louis and Mary C. (Smith) Koester. Harold was a 1956 engineering graduate of the University of Detroit. He was employed at General Motors (Delco Electronics Division) in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, where he worked on inertial navigational controls for commercial and military aircraft. He briefly worked at the MIT Instrumentation Lab where he assisted in the development of the Apollo Space Program navigational controls. He and his family moved from Milwaukee to Erie in 1970 where he worked for AMSCO until his retirement. Harold enjoyed spending time with his family at the beach and on camping trips, and one of his favorite pastimes was golf. He is survived by his brother Norbert Koester (Verna) and sister Mary Alice Hottum of Hamburg, NY, sons; John Koester (Sue) of Erie, Tom Koester (Patty) of Milwaukee, and Jim Koester (Maria) of Pittsburgh, and daughter Kathy Koester of Erie, grandchildren: Megan, Bryan, Kevin, John, Greg, Sean, and Valerie, and three great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to call upon the family on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 2401 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506. Private inurnment. All arrangements are under the direction of the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. In lieu of flowers. please make a memorial contribution to your favorite charity in Harold’s name.
