Glendon Brown 2019

Glendon L.D. Brown (Age 95) Commander, U.S. Navy Reserve (Retired) Passed away peacefully on January 26, 2019 with his family at his side. Glen was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1923 and graduated from Argentine High School in Kansas City, Kansas. In 1942 he began training as a cadet pilot and was soon deployed to the Asia-Pacific theater where he served until the end of WWII as a naval aviator in a patrol bombing squadron. During his service he received the Air Medal, among other medals and commendations. He then attended Stanford University, graduating in 1949. Glen remained in the reserves and again entered active duty, serving with distinction during the Korean War, earning an additional Air Medal. He continued his service as a reserve officer in the Navy, including time in Vietnam. Glen served America loyally for decades, both active duty and reserve, and loved the Navy. While in reserve status, he became a pilot with United Airlines. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte in 2009, after 58 years of marriage, followed by the passing of his son, Jeffrey Brown, five years later. Glen is survived by his son, Gregory, his daughter-in-law, Catharina, granddaughters Courtney Brown-Zerante, her husband Anthony, and Samantha Fuller, her husband David, and his great-granddaughter, Kara. Glen and the men who served with him in the Pacific had the invincibility of youth and the confidence of serving in a just cause. Some did not return. He was blessed to have made it through those years overseas, and to have lived a full and rewarding life. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Internment with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to www.moserfuneralhome.com .

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Glendon Brown 2019.
