Gertrud “Oma” Treuel January 14, 1926 – January 17, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Gertrud “Oma” Treuel Gertrud “Oma” Treuel (nee Ross), 93, of Elyria, passed away January 17, 2019 with her children by her side. She was born January 14, 1926 in Altreichenau, Germany. Gertrud immigrated with her husband to Elyria in 1954 where she lived the rest of her life. She enjoyed knitting, reading and watching her children and grandchildren play sports and the Cleveland Indians. Her greatest passion was cooking, however, holiday and birthday dinners were a special treat for her children and grandchildren. She always had a bowl of chicken noodle soup for family when they were ill and a chocolate roll on their birthday. At one time she was the cook for the Rathskeller, a popular lunchtime eatery in downtown Elyria. Gertrud is survived by a daughter, Gabriella Daly (fiancé Marty Kozarec) of LaGrange; sons, Ralph (wife Donna) of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire and Mike (wife Joanne) of Elyria; grandchildren, Brooke Grasso, Dr. Brett Daly, Suzanne Khursid and Derik, Alex, Erika and William Treuel and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Heinrich A. in 1985 and sisters, Erika Schmid, Liselotte Koenig and Ursula Heidersbach. There will be a private family service followed by a celebration of life at a later date. Burial will be in North Ridgeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggest those who wish to make donations should make them to Ohio Buckeye : National Multiple Sclerosis Society, www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/OHA.
