Geneva Diefenbach August 24 1926 January 29 2019

Geneva Diefenbach, 92, of Kankakee, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Provena Heritage Village. She was born on August 24, 1926 in Kankakee, the daughter of Arthur J. and Ella Cahan Butz. She married Myron Diefenbach on February 16, 1947 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Kankakee. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2014. Geneva was a homemaker and had also worked on the farm. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she held numerous positions and was a member of the Women’s Society. She was one of the first volunteers at Riverside Medical Center. Geneva is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mark Alan and Nancy Diefenbach, of Kankakee; two grandchildren, Kimberly and Dan Mau, of Columbus, IN and Kelly and Chris Knoblock, of Buckingham; seven great grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Robert J. and Jo Butz, of Kankakee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant son, Gregg; and one daughter, Beth Ann. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the 12:30 pm funeral service on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. Pastor Eric Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Mound Grove Gardens of Memory in Kankakee. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
