Gary’s Obituary Gary Lee Stemen, Sr., of Hillsdale, Michigan passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Advent Hospital in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was born November 19, 1946 in Hillsdale, Michigan the son of Lester and Madeline (Sanders) Stemen. He is survived by his wife, Debra Stemen, whom he married on February 3, 1993; five children, Marlanea McGraw of Hudson, Anthony (Tammy) Lapham of Hillsdale, Gary, Jr. (Rebecca) Stemen of Hillsdale, Libby (Jake) Gibbs of Osseo and Danielle Patrias of Tampa, FL; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Marion (Alice) Stemen of Allen and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eugene Stemen and one sister, Delores Satterfield. Gary served his country in the United States Navy and he was a member of the American Legion Post in Hillsdale. He served on the Hillsdale Rural Fire Department and as a Cub Scout Leader and he was a member of the Center Adams Antique Tractor Club. He also worked at Hillsdale Tool until his retirement. A funeral service to honor the life of Gary Lee Stemen, Sr. will be held at the Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale, on Saturday, January 26th beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Lee officiating. Interment will take place in the Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation, at the funeral home in Hillsdale, on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
