Frank Snipes August 15 1940 January 20 2019 (age 78)

Frank Snipes, age 78 of Crestview, FL went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, January 20, 2019. Frank was born August 15, 1940 in Columbia, SC but moved to Jacksonville, FL when he was a young boy. There he graduated from Paxon High School in 1958, became a structural steel draftsman and started his family. After the birth of his first child, Lori, Frank felt called by the Lord to preach the gospel. He preached for many years at several different churches in Jacksonville and the surrounding area but he eventually became the pastor of People’s Baptist Church in Folkston, GA. While at People’s Baptist, Frank and his sons, Frankie and Johnny enjoyed countless hunting, fishing and camping trips at the St. Mary’s River. Later in life, Frank met his sweetheart, Juanita and married her on June 6, 1988. They relocated and settled in Thomasville, GA where they lived for 15 years. There Frank attended First Baptist Church, operated his own structural steel drafting business, John Frank Associates, and was a frequent patron of the local Waffle House. An avid fisherman and curious antique shopper, Frank enjoyed numerous get-a-ways to the beach with Juanita and when they got closer to retirement age they decided to move closer to one and chose that place to be Crestview, FL. Since living in Crestview, Frank has been a faithful member of the Live Oak Baptist Church, a dedicated and proud teacher of the Senior Adult Sunday School class and an active member of the Gideon’s. Frank deeply enjoyed taking cruises and traveling with some of his favorite destinations being Belize, the mountains of NC and the Florida beaches. He was a devoted man who loved his family deeply, had a unquenchable desire to fully know the Bible and worked his whole life to spread the gospel and further the Kingdom of God. We will miss his earthly presence immensely but look forward to the day that we join him in the Sweet By and By. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Oswald and Katherine Snipes; his eldest brother Charles “Tunk” Snipes and younger siblings, Jack Snipes and Kathy Snipes Galentine. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; his daughter, Lori Driver, husband Ronny and their children Erica LeJuene, Jordan Zumo, Clayton Driver, Nicole Jeffcoat and Jeromy Driver; his son Frankie Snipes and Frankie’s sons, Will and Jesse; his son John Snipes, wife Kellee and their son, Seth; his step-daughter Victoria Wallace, husband Lee and their son, J.W.; his step-son Lance Steward, wife Eve and their daughters Alexis and Alivia; his sweet mother-in-law, Myrl Kendrick and several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Visitation will be at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home in Crestview, FL on January 23, 2019 at 6:00 pm till 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be this Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with the burial following at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Florala, AL.
