Elizabeth T. “Betsy” Fries, 72, of Treichlers, passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in her home. She was the loving wife of Kenneth L. Fries, II, with whom she recently celebrated 50 years of loving marriage. Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth J. “Betty” (Wiscount) Wentz. Betsy was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School in Pottsville. She was also a graduate of Sacred heart School of Nursing in Allentown, where she received her nursing license. Betsy went on to work as a R.N. for Sacred Heart Hospital for over 40 years, until retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Walnutport, where she was very active. She loved animals, decorating and celebrating the seasons, shopping, keepsakes, and her collection of dolls. Most of all, Betsy loved spending time with her family. SURVIVORS: In addition to her loving husband Kenneth, she will be remembered by her son Kenneth L. Fries, III, and his wife Christina of Bethlehem; granddaughter Brianna Necessary and her husband AJ; great-grandchildren Tessa, Travis, and Delaney; sister JoAnn Aucker and her husband Joe of Pottsville, Joseph Wentz and his wife Colleen of Etters, PA, and William Wentz of Branchdale. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M., on Tuesday February 5, 2019 in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 1152 Oak Rd. Walnutport, PA 18088. Calling hours will be on Monday evening from 6 P.M. – 8 P.M. and again on Tuesday morning from 9:15 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. before the Mass, all in the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Cemetery, Northampton.
