A native of Winchester, MA, the son of the late William E. and Helen (Hutchins) Ramsdell, he graduated from Winchester High School and attended Maine Maritime Academy where he graduated first in his class before serving in the Pacific in the Merchant Marines during World War II. After the War, Bob graduated from Tufts University and Tufts University School of Medicine. As a doctor, he served in the U.S. Navy in Key West, FL. before moving to Andover to establish his practice of more than 30 years. He was a member of Saint Matthew’s Masonic Lodge in Andover for more than 55 years and also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Valley of Lowell. Retirement in North Hampton, NH brought Bob and Margaret closer to their beloved ocean. He is survived by his loving children, John Ramsdell, Marleah Thornton and her husband Martin, Carolyn Ramsdell Greene and her husband Bill, and three grandchildren, David Ramsdell, Eric Ramsdell, and Martin Thornton. He was the brother of the late William Ramsdell and Virginia Child. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 9th at 11:00 at South Church, 41 Central Street in Andover, MA.
