Dr. Casimir G. Erzegovich, 95, of Harrisburg, passed away on Monday January 29, 2019. Born March 24, 1923, in Galati, Romania, he was a son of the late Petar Nikolas Erzegovich and Beatrice Katarina (Dekovich) Erzegovich Pavusek. He was the brother of Teresina, Maria and Giuseppe Erzegovich. In 1928, the family moved to Yugoslavia and then settled in Belgium in 1929. During World War II, he was taken as a Prisoner of War in Belgium. Casimir emigrated to the United States in 1946. Possessing a fluency in Italian, French, Flemish and German, led Casimir to earn a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Letters from the University of Brussels in 1970. He was a Professor of French in the Modern Language Department at Villanova University, near Philadelphia, and, served in the U.S. Army as a Language Instructor on the USS Albany, 6th Fleet, stationed in Gaeta, Italy. Casimir retired from Oak Ridge Military Academy, in North Carolina, where he had been a Language teacher, for many years. A member of the Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick, Harrisburg, Casimir enjoyed reading, music and walking. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday February 2, 2019 at the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, 212 State Street, Harrisburg, with Rev. Joshua R. Brommer, as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Township. Friends may call on Saturday prior to the Mass, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., at the Cathedral.
