Domenico Mineo 1939 2018

Obituary of Domenico Mineo Domenico Mineo, longtime resident of Monterey, California passed away on November 23 at the age of 79. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing. Hailing from generations of fishermen, and a native of Marettimo, Sicily Domenico followed in his father’s footsteps and made his way to Monterey, California in 1955 at the age of 15. Soon after, he began his lifetime career as a commercial fisherman. Domenico fished for sardines, anchovies, herring, albacore, mackerel, crab, rockfish, salmon and squid on the Pacific Ocean as far north as Bristol Bay, Alaska and as far south as Mexico. He would continue fishing through 2003. Domenico built a successful commercial fishing business through perseverance and lots of hard work. The ocean was in his blood. Upon his retirement, his sons were able to continue fishing the F/V Mineo Bros. This is the legacy he has left for his children. More recently, you would’ve found him down at the coffee shop shooting the breeze with his friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maria, sons Sal (Gina, Matthew) and Frank (Sarah), daughter Kathy and granddaughter Gabriella as well as his sister Lidia (80), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Spending time with friends and family, along with being a father and husband meant everything to Domenico. He will be forever remembered for his generosity, heart warming smile and infectious laugh. Services will be held at San Carlos Cathedral on Tuesday, December 4 at 10:00 am followed by a private burial.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Domenico Mineo 1939 2018.
