Derek Steven Gagnon 2019

Derek Steven Gagnon, 43, passed away, January 15, 2018, from injuries incurred from an automobile accident. Derek was born July 29, 1975, in Middletown, Connecticut. For the past 8 years, he lived in Bedford, New Hampshire. Derek grew up in Glastonbury, Connecticut and graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1994. He later attended and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at UNH Derek was in the Honors Program and spent one semester abroad at the Budapest Technical University, Budapest, Hungary. After graduation, Derek was employed at BAE Systems, Nashua, New Hampshire until the day of his passing. Derek loved the outdoors, and was an avid mountain biker, hiker, and kayak enthusiast. In the winter he enjoyed snow shoeing and cross country skiing. He also loved sailing his trimaran at Wilson Pond in Greenville, Maine and among many other lakes in NH. Derek loved living his life to the fullest, especially in his quest to keep learning and growing. He loved a challenge. No task or obstacle was too big for him. His attention to detail spilled over into every aspect of life, especially listening to music and creating the perfect sound systems. Derek was a loving husband and father. His family and friends were the most important things to him. He loved them all so very much, and as they did him. Derek is survived by his wife Erin Huot, children Aidan Santillan and Bria Gagnon, Erin’s parents Ann and David Huot, all of New Hampshire, his father Russell E. Gagnon and his fiance Yolande Graham of Maine, his mother Elke Gagnon of New Hampshire, his brother Patrick M. Gagnon and his family, Lindsey Gagnon and children Shaelin and Quinten Gagnon of New Hampshire, his uncle Paul S. Gagnon and his wife Sharon of North Carolina, and their children Ross Gagnon and his wife Maggie, and Jill Gagnon of North Carolina, and also by his great aunt Beverly Desrosiers of Florida, and numerous cousins. Derek is also survived by his aunt Jutta Prus, her husband Michael and their two sons Christian and Nicholas and their wives, as well as his grandmother Wilma Salewsky of Australia. He was preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother, Ernest R. Gagnon and Olga H. Gagnon, his uncle Robert T. Gagnon, and aunt Priscilla O. Gagnon. Calling hours will be held at the French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast Street, Goffstown, New Hampshire from 3-7 pm on Monday the 21st of January. The Funeral Service will be at 10 am at the St. Elizabeth Seton Church (Tuesday Mass), 190 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, New Hampshire.
