Darrell’s Obituary Darrell James Evenson, 55, Rapid City, SD passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Darrell was born November 21, 1963 in Portland, Oregon, and grew up in Rapid City. Darrell attended Rapid City Central High School before joining the US Marines Corps. During his stint with the Marines he was able to see and visit places and do things around the world he dreamed of as a kid, like going skiing in the Swiss Alps. Darrell loved the idea of learning, and was often taking new college courses to improve himself. Reading was important to Darrell, and his home was filled with books on every subject you could imagine. Over the years he has worked a variety of jobs, from John Morrells in Sioux Falls to the School of Mines in Rapid City. For the past 8 years he has worked for A Plus Janitorial, along with side jobs for special friends Jim and Dot. From each place he worked he gained lifelong friends from all walks of life. Friends were a very important part of Darrell’s life, and if you were his friend, he was going to be there for you no matter what. Family was also very important to Darrell, he had no kids of his own, but he greatly loved all his nieces and nephews and cherished the time he spent with them. He proudly displayed their pictures everywhere in his home. Survivors include his mother, Cheri Knispel of Rapid City; his siblings, Barb Evenson (Chris Bull), Maryland, Buck Dunbar Evenson, Monroe, SD, Shelli (Jon) Herman, Sioux Falls, David (Jolonda) Ricke, Rapid City, and Cynthia from Arizona and his nieces and nephews: Adam, Nathan, Ashley, Daisy, Kimberly, George, Jake, Misty, Miranda, Becca, Ryan, Dustin, Kaley; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
