Catherine “Sue” Meschke of Rolla, Missouri passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the age of 88. Sue was born on November 15, 1930 in Rolla, Missouri to the late Taylor and Mable (Sneed) Sturgeon. Sue attended grammar and high school in Rolla, Missouri and remained a resident of Rolla all of her life. She was united in marriage to the late Ernst Meschke in 1949; this union was blessed with two children. Sue worked at and retired from J.C. Penny in Rolla for twenty-five years. Once retired, she worked for a home health care company and at the Phelps County Courthouse for seventeen years as a receptionist/greeter. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rolla, a charter member of the Phelps County Hospital Auxiliary and a county election judge for many years. Sue was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Sue is survived by her children, Dennis Meschke and Holly Statler both of Rolla, MO; grandchildren, Lynn(Chris) Acebey and Mark (Audrey) Statler; great-granddaughter, Mattie Statler. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Taylor and Mable (Sneed) Sturgeon. Funeral Service for Catherine “Sue” Meschke will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the Rolla Chapel of the James and Gahr Mortuary, Rolla, MO with Pastor Erik Swyers officiating. Interment will be in the Ozark Hills Memorial Garden, Rolla, MO. A visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Rolla Chapel of the James and Gahr Mortuary, Rolla, MO. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, First United Methodist Church or the Delbert Day Cancer Institute. Cards are available at all James and Gahr locations.
