OBITUARY Brenda Kay McCarter April 5, 1951 – January 29, 2019 Play Tribute Movie McCarter, Brenda Kay 67 of Powell, TN passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019. She was a member of Second United Methodist Church. Kay had previously served as the children’s department director, pre-k Sunday School teacher, church secretary, and choir member at West Haven Baptist Church. She retired as a pre-k teacher at West Lonsdale Baptist Church. Kay was an enthusiastic crafter. She enjoyed visiting Dollywood, Biltmore, and Cades Cove with her husband Larry. Her four grandchildren were the joy of her life. Kay enjoyed vacationing with her family, watching Larry work in his garden, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Larry McCarter; parents, Millard and Thelma Carroll; brother-in-law, Steve Cope. Kay is survived by her daughters, Allison (Beetles) Wheeler and Sarah (Tom) Young; grandchildren, Ethan Wheeler, Morgan Simpson, Caroline and Meredith Young; sisters, Barbara Cope and Rhonda (Eddie) Byrd; nieces, Laura Cope, Becca Loffredo, Whitney Byrd; nephew, Craig Byrd; parents-in-law, Mildred (Floyd) Stevens, Frank (Sue) McCarter; sister-in-law, Anice (Van) Sanks; brother-in-law, Mark (Mary) McCarter; and a host of additional family members and friends. Special thanks to her caregiver and friend Karen Harrison, UT Hospice nurses, Jessica, Amanda, and Samantha, and Chaplin Phil. Family will receive friends Saturday, February 2nd from 5-7pm with funeral service following at 7pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home on Adair Dr. Pastor Tim Paul officiating. Burial will take place Sunday, February 3rd at 1pm at Berry Lynnhurst Cemetery.
