Betty Arlene Smith Bennick, 89, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Betty was born January 1, 1930 in Cabarrus County to the late Thomas and Mary Smith. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Boyce Ray Bennick; three sisters, Sally Honeycutt, Elsie Mae Smith and Naomi Tucker; and brother, Clyde Smith. Betty loved the Lord and her family. She enjoyed fishing and gardening. She was well-known for her good cooking. Betty was a loving mother, sister, grandma, and great grandma “GG.” She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include son, Ronnie (Cathy) Bennick of Tampa, FL; daughter, Becky (Odell) Bost of New London, NC; sister, Ruby (Robert) Furr of Concord; grandchildren, Michelle (Darren) Mize, Jennifer (Troy) Anderson, Jason (Melissa) Bost and Tiffany (Jamie) Carriker; great-grandchildren, Ethan Bost, Max Duthie, Ella Bost, Paige Anderson, Maggie Mize, Madison Carriker, Dylan Anderson and Molly Carriker. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 460 Branchview Dr NE, Concord. The funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 3, 2019 at St. Stephens Wesleyan Church, 7601 Brusharbor Rd, Concord, officiated by Rev. Gary Morris. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Stephens Wesleyan Church or Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Bennick family.
