OBITUARY BERTHA B CHRISTIANSON February 7, 1934 – January 28, 2019 Bertha A. (Becher) Christianson, 84, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2019. She was born in Hartford, a daughter of the late Richard E. and Mabelle (Harris) Becher. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in East Hartford and created the Christian Library there. She enjoyed, sewing, knitting and gardening. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Merlin B. Christianson, her daughter Ruth Broxup and her husband Christopher of Buffalo, NY, her two sons Daniel of Rochester, NY and David of Mansfield, CT, seven grandchildren, her brother Rev. Dr. Charles Becher and his wife Margaret of Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two daughter in laws, Donna and Ruth. Funeral services will be Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 1120 Silver Lane, East Hartford. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4PM-7PM at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford and Monday from 10AM-11AM at the church. Burial is private. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
