A Memorial Service for Bert Autry Smith, age 78 of Cumberland Furnace, will be Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 1:30 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. Timmy Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM . Bert passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. He was born on May 7, 1940 in Erin, TN to Bert and Francis Bishop Smith. He was a retired manager with Kmart Corporation where he worked for 40 years. Bert enjoyed woodworking, mentoring others, and being a cut up. He loved everyone and everyone that met him felt the same way. He is preceded in death by his wife Joanne Griffis and brother Garner Roe Smith. He is survived by his children: Pam Suggs, Angela (Marvin) Darnall, Kimberly (Billy) Poole, Melissa Smith, Michael (Robert Lopez) Griffis, and Robert (Carla) Griffis; siblings: Jack (Mary Sue) Smith, Dean (Ladonna) Smith, and Sue (Pete) Oreskovich; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
