Arlene L. Meeder, 89, of Mancelona, passed away on January 18, 2019 at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord. Arlene was born on July 25, 1929, in Mancelona, the daughter of Roland and Averil (Gothrup) Derrer. Arlene earned a Bachelor Degree in Education from Central Michigan University and taught for 7 years in various school districts in Michigan. She was a long time member of the Mancelona United Methodist Church. She was an intelligent, knowledgeable woman and was very devoted to her family, not only her immediate family but her entire extended family. She is survived by her husband Jack Meeder of Mancelona, two sons, Curtis (Cynthia) Meeder of Wexford, PA, Chris (Linda) Meeder of Indian River, MI, grandchildren, Brendan (Ariel) Meeder of Pittsburgh, PA, Ethan Meeder of Wexford, PA, Cynthia Ridley of Lansing, MI, Preston Meeder (Stefani St. John) of Grand Ledge, MI, Ryan (Meredith) Meeder of Grand Ledge, MI, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Matt Meeder, 3 brothers, Fred, Jack and Richard Derrer, a sister Joyce Hanselman as well as her parents. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mancelona United Methodist Church with Pastor Bryan Kilpatrick officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona United Methodist Church, P.O.
